THE LITERARY COMPETITION
I had never felt so frightened, yet at the same time I was very excited. The competition sounded very interesting and I was keen on taking part. Of course, I wanted to win first prize and to be well- known.
However, there was a problem: I didn't have any idea what to write about. I meant, what to write and how.
I wrote texts because I love to write, but I wasn't so talented nor well-read.
In spite of that, I wanted to write, to show my work. I knew I might win or lose; nevertheless, my enthusiasm was still aroused.
I needed a lot of inspiration to begin. Then I saw my blank sheet without a word, without an idea. My mind went blank and then I began to feel desperate. Soon after, I tried to concentrate on my story. As I was alone, it was easier to receive the ideas.
Whatever I wrote, it had to be something unique, special and sublime.
Then I thought of famous writers such as Poe, Allende, Rowling, etc. and as if they had revealed me magical words, I began to write. I didn't realize when it happened.
I wrote during the night because it was the right moment when I felt inspired. I sat at my desk night after night with a small lamp, my pen and a sheet.
Lonely in my room, I worked hard. Night after night, hour after hour... I went on... I mistook...I felt that delightful sensation. It didn't matter I lost. These magical moments were mine. The ink was like my blood poured on the paper and the pen was like a magic wand sliding onto the sheet. Sometimes time seemed to stop.
And I've never stopped writing since then. The deadline had come. My work was ready and I just to wait the results.

Flores de Bach
¿Estás cansado(a) de buscar soluciones nocivas con la medicina tradicional? ¿Estás cansado(a) de tomar drogas y pastillas que prolongadamente te hacen sentir peor? ¿Deseas curar tus enfermedades físicas, psicológicas y/o emocionales utilizando medicina inocua, sin causar daños colaterales a tu organismo? Su premisa se basa que los árboles y flores poseen vibraciones energéticas que ayudan a recuperar el desequilibrio del mismo en el organismo, y que por tanto ese desequilibrio es el causante de las enfermedades que padecemos.
Estos remedios consisten en un set de 38 preparados, elaborados con la esencia de flores y árboles que son contenidos en un frasco gotario de vidrio, los cuales son para diversas enfermedades físicas y necesidades emocionales... La función de esta medicina es recuperar la salud física, mental y emocional, recuperando el equilibrio energético del organismo. Son inocuos, pueden ser tomados por niños, ancianos, e incluso animales... Su dosis es colocar debajo de la lengua 4 gotas o si prefiere, disolverlas en un poco de agua con 4 gotas, y repetir este proceso tantas veces sea conveniente.
También es importante tener en cuenta dos factores: Autoconocerte muy bien , haciendo un autoanálisis introspectivo para saber cuál(es) es/son tu(s) necesidad(es) que deseas curar y/o revertir y añadir mucha FE, convicción que te sanarás; pues, Dios dispuso en la Naturaleza los remedios para Sanación... !! La Naturaleza es sabia!!
DYING PLANET EARTH
Do we honestly realize about the scale of the damages caused by the human being? All the changes in the environment, reveal us that our planet is certainly doomed. Since the Industrial Revolution with the technological development, inventions and the creation of powerful factories, the planet has been polluted because of pollutants emitted from them. As a result, the whole nature is affected: Water, air, soil and therefore, the ecosystem is harmed too. Other events are the result of this everyday destruction: Global warming, the melting of glaciers, the extinction of wildlife, forests fire, ozone depletion, etc. Many rulers, environmental organizations and scientists are worried about this situation and try to find solutions for these problems. But nobody wants to admit that there are no human solutions to put an end to them. We can only wait for the awful consequences. Although several measures are taken "to solve" these problems, it's too late to reverse the disasters. Nobody can expect to stop the accumulative damages made throughout the centuries. According to the Holy Writ, God says that He's going to create the world again and this damaged planet isn't going to exist anymore (*) Analysing this view, the human being can't solve this worldwide problem by himself. It's useless to misspend lots of money, making conferences, campaigns... Becoming aware of this impending total destruction just now, it's absolutely a waste of time. Believe it or not, the real solution is of no concern to us. It isn't going to be solved by ourselves. (*) Revelation 21;1 Isaiah 65;17.

A MISUNDERSTOOD GENIUS
A prominent writer turned his life tragedies into a work of art. His pen was a magic wand that portrayed a disastrous world. This writer was Edgar Allan Poe, who has been regarded as one of the greatest literary artist of the last centuries. "The doomed poet" left us a sadistic taste through his book, Tales of Mystery and Imagination.
In his stories were revealed a morbid world created with narcotic inspiration. This morbid world was created with one important ingredient: a deep sensibility. This feature of Poe's character was exacerbated by the effects of opium and alcohol. The author mentioned the stimulant in one of his short stories below:
In beauty of face no maiden ever equaled her. It was the radiance of an opium dream- and airy and spirit lifting vision more wildly divine than the phantasies which hovered vision about the slambering souls of the daughters of Delos. 1
In this fragment, he saw the beauty of his lover as a hallucinogenic portrait. Her beauty was as exciting as to be drugged. Also, it mentioned opium as hallucinogenic element.
Alcohol was an inspirational poison as well. Together with, it created a perfect combination to produce a lot of exciting stories and poems. Alcohol was the other element mentioned by the author who admitted his addiction to it. Poe wrote, "But my disease grew upon me- for what disease is like Alcohol!- and at lenght even Pluto, who was now becoming old and consequently somewhat peevish- even Pluto began to experience the effects of my ill temper". 2
Both addictions changed his mental perception, and put him in a highly inspirational condition as semi unconsciousness, in which the words may have flowed easily and quickly.
Poe said the following about his addictions:
I have absolutely no pleasure in the stimulants in which I sometimes so madly indulge. It has no been in the pursuit of pleasure that I have periled life and reputation and reason. It has been the desperate attempt to escape from torturing memories, from a sense of insupportable loneliness and a dread of strang impending doom. 3
Regarding this quote, Poe used stimulants in order to escape from hard experiences, to evade his loneliness. But he did not seem to notice that his addictions were the source of inspiration to compose high quality creations, due to their effects on his consciousness.
Death was one of the topics mentioned most. His life involved the loss of loved ones such as his mother and wife. Both women passed away due to tuberculosis. This fact somehow may have contributed and provided the foundation fo his works. However, death also symbolizes the loss of expectations, illusions, uprooting of a classist society, the passing of stages, and the wish of freedom for his soul. Poe wrote the following:
There are two bodies- the rudimental and the complete; corresponding with the two conditions of the worm and the butterfly. What we call "death", is but the painful metamorphosis. Oour present incarnation is progressive, preparatory, temporary. Our future is perfected, ultimate, immortal.
The ultimate life is the full design. 4
In Poe's murder stories, homicide required animalistic elements. Animals killed, they died, and informed crimes committed among men. For instance, these animals were: a cat, a dog, a bug, horses and an orangutan. Some of them had an esoteric and sinister connotation: the cat. All the animals has something to reveal; of course, with human being's help. They were special characters that acted in the story to fulfill certain purposes.
Other elements included madness, heart, eyes. The heart represents "feeling" or "emotion" and the physical "pump" of the body. The eyes represent the window of the soul as well.
Most of his stories were recharged with a gothic style, a dark atmosphere in a cruel and mournful world. Poe's works have become an important legacy for the American Literature of the nineteenth century. He was the pioneer creator of detective stories. Edgar A. Poe with all his madness, brilliant imagination, addictions and chaotic life encouraged himself to write, to depict his own pains, which made him after his death, the most popular writer throughout the centuries.

EL EXAMEN
¿Por qué no dejar de creer que los exámenes nos indican qué estudiantes fracasan y qué estudiantes tienen éxito? ¿Por qué no pensar que los propios procedimientos de evaluación pueden ser en gran medida los responsables del fracaso escolar?
El examen: es una palabra amedrentadora, que nadie quiere escuchar; ni menos caer atacado por esa arma poderosa y sutil... Un instrumento para manipular, sancionar y sentenciar a la aprobación o reprobación... Un elemento que cuenta con muchos detractores... Una sentencia justa para algunos; e injusta, para otros...
Los exámenes son un elemento controversial y contradictorio para muchos estudiantes. Es un instrumento que muchos odian y que ojalá nunca existiera. También es cierto que los exámenes son los indicadores que permiten comprobar el nivel de éxito o fracaso en conocimientos conceptuales adquiridos en una materia específica.
Según el formato elaborado en el examen, el nivel de complejidad, el tipo de contenido, la forma de abordar las interrogantes, etc. son factores que en cierto modo determinan el éxito para los estudiantes más "hábiles", debido a la capacidad de interpretación y resolución del mismo. En cambio, los estudiantes que no son capaces de interpretar y comprender los planteamientos expuestos en cierto examen, fracasan. ¿Por qué? ¿Es culpa del estudiante o del docente? ¿O ambos son culpables? Es complejo determinar en primera instancia, porque para contestar esas interrogantes hay que analizar detalladamente los factores involucrados que condujeron a tal fracaso como por ejemplo: la mala elaboración del examen, falta de estudio, nivel de complejidad no concordante con el nivel intelectual del estudiante, etc.
El examen debiera ser un medio "deseable" que permita determinar el nivel de aprendizaje de los estudiantes, sin caer voluntaria o involuntariamente en un rol de estereotipar estudiantes como "exitosos" o "fracasados".
Además es muy probable que muchos docentes no se detienen a cuestionar si el instrumento evaluativo está mal elaborado. Como también los factores ocultos de irregularidad (o utilizados con un mal propósito) en el evaluador que subyacen en el examen. Éstos pueden ser algunas de las causas que conducen al fracaso estudiantil. Es decir, un instrumento mal utilizado lleva al inminente fracaso, y si el docente no se percata de ello, se convierte en un círculo vicioso.
Otro factor a considerar es el carácter punitivo de los errores. Obviamente, ellos causan perjuicio en el resultado. Sin embargo, la clave es cómo se aborda la corrección de esos errores y qué tipos de ellos pueden ser considerados graves. En el primer planteamiento, es importante señalar que es distinta la connotación sobre una corrección que desencadena en un aprendizaje significativo, con otro que produce una reacción negativa. En otras palabras, es distinta la percepción que produce una corrección constructiva, en contraste con una destructiva. El modo hace la gran diferencia.
En el segundo caso, se debe tener mucha cautela y agudeza para determinar si un error comparado con otro se evalúa de modo proporcional al aplicar el puntaje. A veces un error "insignificante" contiene más puntaje negativo que un error considerable. Esto desencadena injusticia y mal criterio por parte del docente.
Finalmente, son infinitos los temas por discutir sobre la evaluación. Lo importante es reflexionar sobre las causas expuestas y las amplias repercusiones que implican en este ámbito. Es un llamado a realizar una constante autocrítica sobre el desempeño en esta área.
