Dear visitors: If  you are going to Chile, here there are some Chilean slang used in my country:  :)

   Slang:

  Chela:  Beer.
  Copete:  Alcoholic drink.
  Carrete:  Party.
  Caña:  Hangover.

 
 
  Cachar: To understand /To get / To catch up with (somebody).
  Bacán (Bkn-bcn): Cool, nice, superb.
  Lata / Fome:  Boring/ Lame.
  Plata: Money.
  Tener cue'a:  To have good luck.
  Poner el gorro: To cheat on somebody.
  Tener mala pata/cue'a: To have bad luck, To be unlucky.
  Caleta: Very much.
  Cuico/Cuica:  Upper class person.
  Ata'o: Problem
  No estoy ni ahí: I don't care / Couldn't care less about something.
  Vale: Thanks.
  Volado(a): A drugged person.
  Pito: A marijuana cigarette.
  Catete: An insistent, annoying person.
  Ataoso(a):  Troublesome.
  Curao, curá': A person who's drunk.
  Arrugar: To regret.
  Estar chato(a) de: To be fed up with.
  Cabro / Cabra:  Boy / Girl
  Contar la firme: To tell the truth.
  Chavela, Nos belmont:  Bye, see you.
  Asopao / Pastel:  Silly, stupid person.
  Pescar: To pay attention to somebody.
  Flaite:  A lower class (young) person.
  Pega: Job.
  Cana: Jail.
  Un Palo: $1.000.000 Chilean pesos.
  Patiperro(a): Person who likes travelling. Adventurer.


  CHILENISMS:

  Sapo (delator): Sneak (UK)
  Micro: Bus (urban bus).
  Cabritas: Pop corn.
  Paradero: Bus stop
  Palta: Avocado.
  Diario:  Newspaper.
  Pasaje: Ticket for train,plane/ fare.
  Almacén: Grocery store.
  Gásfiter: Plumber.
  Pololear: To date / to go out with sb.
  Pololo: Boyfriend.
  Polola:  Girlfriend.
  Güagüa: Baby, newborn.
  Frutilla:  Strawberry.
  Terminal de bus / Estación ferroviaria:  Bus / Railway station.
  Completo: Hot dog.
  Volantín: Kite.
  Papa: Potato.
  Choclo: Sweet corn.
  Gamba: $100 Chilean pesos.
  Luca: $1.000 Chilean pesos.
  Borgoña:  Alcoholic drink made of strawberries, sugar and red wine.
  Jote:  Alcoholic drink made of red wine and Coke.
  Piscola: Alcoholic drink made of pisco and Coke.
  Terremoto: Alcoholic drink made of pipeño wine, pineapple ice cream and fernet.
  Echarse un ramo: To fail a subject at school / university.
  Echar la foca a alguien: To tell off to somebody.
  Chanta: Person who isn't credible or a thing that doesn't have any value.
 Al tiro: Right away / straightaway.
 Chicotea los caracoles!: Hurry up!
